Backwash

The four-bowl sliver treatment system creates cleaner brighter top ready for the next stage of processing. By removing any residual ash from the Carding process, any further processing or application of treatments will become more effective and create a higher quality product.

With the tried and proven benefits of this four bowl process retained, additional system improvements have been made.

Tops delivered via the Inlet system are presented to the optional Rotodraft opening device and optional Basolan® treatment module or directly sent on to the first Backwash bowl. The top travels through a series of four bowls and squeeze presses, where the sliver is washed, rinsed and a softener is applied. Following the wet processing the top is dried through a Drum Dryer to a pre-selected regain, before exiting the Backwash system by way of the Outlet system.

Incorporated into the ANDAR Backwash system the Dosing Station provides mixing, metering and controlled dosing of chemicals to the line.

Inlet System

There is a choice of two inlet systems dependent on the form of sliver to be processed. These systems are required to present the tops to the Superwash system in an open, even and well-controlled form. This allows a more efficient and even application of treatment to the tops.

 

Inlet Bump Creel

Designed to accommodate tops from either bump or ball.

Inlet Can Creel

Designed to deliver and present sliver from wound cans.

Rotodraft Opening Device (optional)

The ANDAR Rotodraft is a continuous sliver opening device designed to open the slivers prior to processing to eliminate any compacted areas, which are common in tops that have been transported in high-density balls or compressed form. The Rotodraft produces slivers of a consistent density and tension, while preparing the sliver for the most efficient treatment.

The main benefits of the Rotodraft are:

  • Increased flexibility in production schedules because tops can be treated immediately without the needs to relax or reprocess the slivers.
  • Normal production rates can be achieved, even when processing Total Easy Care fine wools.
  • Savings and efficiencies through chemical and related costs due to improved evenness of treatment of the opened sliver.
  • The removal of re-treatment costs, associated with ‘surprise’ failures.

Basolan® Applicator

The ANDAR Applicator is used to treat sliver using the Basolan technology to provide soft handling, bulky, deep-dyeing high value fibres.

The treatment is done to the tops prior to any standard Backwash or Superwash system.

Basolan 88 is the standard Basolan treatment used by the sliver processing industry, as it increases the bulk of the sliver while improving the handle. The sliver emerges feeling softer and smoother.

Basolan Xtra treatment provides all the advantages of the Basolan 88 treatment, while adding improved dye uptake and colour retention. The benefits of the Basolan Xtra treatment become more apparent after the dyeing process has been completed.

 

ANDAR Applicator Chemical Station (optional)

Designed as a standalone system to mix, meter and dose the required chemicals for either Basolan 88 or the Basolan Xtra treatments to the ANDAR Applicator.
